Quantity Surveyor
Join Our Team as a Quantity Surveyor – Shape the Future of High-End, Low-Energy Building with Bow Tie Construction Ltd

Job:Â Full-time, Permanent,
Pay: £35,000-£48,000 per year (based on the experience)

About Us: At Bow Tie Construction Ltd, we’re not just builders; we’re pioneers in high-end, low-energy construction. We specialize in projects ranging from £500K to £2 million, creating homes and spaces that are both efficient and elegant. As we embark on an exciting phase of growth, we’re seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to help uphold our high standards and drive our projects to successful completion.
What You’ll Do: As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a central role in our project operations, collaborating closely with our Technical Director, Project Assistant/Buyer, and Project Managers. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing Project Costs: Oversee project pricing and documentation from initial enquiry through to completion, ensuring accuracy in all cost aspects.
- Client Interaction: Engage in initial client meetings and maintain ongoing communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Site Meetings: Attend monthly site meetings to track progress and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Prepare Take-offs & BOQs: Produce detailed take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQs), presenting them clearly to clients.
- Budget Management: Work with our team to ensure projects remain within budget.
- Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractor tenders and contracts, primarily JCT.
- Variation Communication: Compile costs and communicate any site variations to management and clients.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: At least 3 years in a similar UK-based role (international experience alone will not be considered).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Bluebeam or Cubit (welcomed but training will be provided) or equivalent take-off software, along with strong skills in Excel, Word, and general ICT.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of UK building practices and regulations, with the ability to read and interpret all types of construction drawings.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Mobility: A full UK Driving Licence and the ability to travel to sites a few times a month.
Additional Information:
- Work Schedule: The role involves working Monday to Friday from our office based in High Wycombe (Cressex). There is the possibility of partly remote working after the probationary period, with flexibility in working hours. Please apply only if you can commute to High Wycombe.
- Site Travel: You will need to travel to sites a few times a month and attend scheduled meetings.
