London Passivhaus Retrofit Specialists

Published on by Bow Tie Construction

As a company we like to reflect on our progress to see if we are achieving our goals. We feel that goal-setting with regular reviews is key to understanding how well we are doing.

Eco-construction is our passion and sustainability is the gold thread that connects everything we do. When we started the company in 2011 Passivhaus projects were very few and far between and we had to fight for them, occasionally taking the financial risk of reducing our profit just to get the job.

How things have changed! We are now also know for deliver Passivhaus new-build retrofits are typically more challenging. We are satisfied that in the last three years we have completed:

Four Passivhaus EnerPHit Retrofit / Refurbishment projects:

Muswell Hill / Highgate in Haringey

Kentish Town in Camden.

Kensal Green / Willesden in Brent

Our first certified Passivhaus project – a refurbishment to the full Passivhaus standard. This is stricter than EnerPHit in terms of energy demand and airtightness.

Kennington in Lambeth

We have learned a huge amount in this time. We endeavour to construct using common materials available just-in-time from builder’s merchants to reduce delays or supply issues. We have developed proprietary airtightness and thermal-bridge free construction techniques to drive down costs, reduce program duration and increase durability of details. As well as meeting Passivhaus our buildings are also ultra-low maintenance. On many of theses projects we have saved the client a considerable proportion of their budget through value-engineering and simplifying renewables and heating and hot water systems and their interaction and control through a smart home system.
